We are set in the heart of Draycott, a working south Derbyshire village with easy access to all local amenities including a growing number of boutiques, delis and specialist shops.
Yet, within minutes from our doors you are on lovely rural walks by the River Derwent which are frequented by birdwatchers, fishermen and walkers.
There are many paths which are marked including our section of the Midshires Way, the historial local ‘Coffin Walk’ between Draycott and Breaston and the new 'Derby Nomad Way'.
We often see the dragonflies, damselflies and many butterflies, kingfishers, hear the woodpeckers, cuckoos, curlews, owls and others on our walks with the dogs.

St. Chads Water, one of our two local nature reserves is in easy walking distance or a short car drive along Wilne Road and covers an area of 12 acres. It has an accessible circular walk around the lake.
The lake is home to a wide variety of water birds and the area around contributes to the Lowland Derbyshire Biodiversity Action Plan.
Next to the reserve is St. Chads church. This important local landmark is a remarkable specimen of mediaeval architecture. The interior of the church has a font which is altogether unique, while the Willoughby Chapel contains the remains of a noble family who once resided in the parish.
The second nature reserve, Orchid Wood, is also within easy distance by footpath or car on Sawley Road. Here are found a great variety of woodland plants and animals including varieties of wild orchids.
