MONDAYS
‘Try-Its’ | Popular taster sessions are ideal for introducing you to a wide range of art supplies and techniques. Led by our specialist tutors who will explain and demonstrate techniques for you to investigate hands-on. A great spring-board for your own creative expressions with new ideas to try every week. Tutoring, equipment, art packs and inspiration all supplied.
New look Try-Its starting in January will be just £7.50 per week and include such benefits as 10% off all Art Materials in our shop for every participant on the day and an inspirational fact sheet to take home an refer back to as and when you want to.
10.30 am - 12.30 pm every Monday! Booking highly recommended.

22/02/10 - Ink Aid on metal and fabrics.
This wonderful medium allow you to put sheets of metal and pieces of fabric through your printer. Use these images to cut and layer into your very own mixed media collage to treasure forever.
01/03/10 - Markal Sticks, negative stencils and mixed media resists.
Create your stencil then use this to produce a set of one off fabrics and papers. Work into these for a decorative collage or develop further into body adornments.
08/03/10 - Needle Felted Inchies - with Specialist Tutor Linda
Using various fibres, learn to 'Stab' or 'Needle' Felt miniture works of art which Linda will then help you embellish using hand stitching and beading.
15/03/10 - Texturise your photos.
Using various techniques and mediums such as scratching, layering, paints and texture pastes. You’ll mount photos of your choice and never look at your photo album in the same way again. Why not bring some personal photographs with you to use?
22/03/10 - Pavapol play.
Dip textiles into the Paverpol, drape or wrap the material around a wire base and leave it to dry. After it has hardened your sculpture can be displayed indoors or outdoors.
29/03/10 - Leather and Lace Corsages.
Cut and shape real leather then layer up with various fabrics to create tactile corsages to keep for yourself or give away as gifts.
05/04/10 - Paperclay Vessels.
Sculpt this air drying clay by hand, add texture and colour to produce 3d sculptures.

Monday Evening ‘Try-Its’ | Every first Monday of the month 6.30 pm to 9 pm, £15 per person.
Can’t make the day time sessions, then join us in the evening for extended workshops with coffee and cake. Make a date with your creativity!
Began on the 1st February 2010 with the wonderful Mondern Masters Metal Effects Paints. The fully booked workshop enabled all participants to create their very own mixed media collage and then age and ditress it using the great metal paints and, patinas. The images below are of the work produced in this inspirational workshop!
 
01/03/10 - Wire and Bead Jewellery Techniques - Now Fully Booked but do express your interest in this workshop and we may be able to repeat the session at a later date!
Use colourful wire and sparkling beads to create unique items of jewellery. Learn simple techniques to take forward and develop with your own style.
05/04/10 - Leather and Lace Accessories
Layers of leather with textured fabrics and lace are constructed using hand stitching and embellishments. Sparkling beads and shimmering fabrics add colour and depth to your unique creations. Produce corsages and jewellery components and learn techniques to enable you to create at home.
03/05/10 and 07/06/10 To Be Confirmed but may include Angelina Sculptures, inkAID computer printing on metals and fabrics or specialist Tutor and Silver Smith, Helen Domleo for a jewellery for beginners one off workshop. |

TUESDAYS
Stitch & Chat | 10 am - 12 noon, £2 per week. Bring your own work and join in with this self supporting and friendly group. Drinks and biscuits provided.
Honeycombe | Creative networking meetings 1st Tuesday in the month from 11 am £2.50 per session, refreshments provided.
Bits & Bites | On the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 16 February onwards, £3 per session. This self supporting group will meet from 1 pm - 3 pm for all with a mutual interest in using the computer as a tool to aid art and design in textiles. Drinks and biscuits provided.

| WEDNESDAYS:
Taking Textiles Further | Embroidery & mixed media with Alysn Midgelow-Marsden 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm, £15 per week. Working with textiles, embroidery and mixed media, participants will explore the different surface qualities which different media impart and make a range of pieces from embroidered works, books, mirrors, cards, sculptures etc. The emphasis is placed upon learning new techniques at your own pace in a small group.

Jewellery & Metal | Practical workshops with Helen Domleo, 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm, £15 per week. Book in four week blocks. Helen will demonstrate and guide you through metal and jewellery making techniques to enable you to develop and refine your own practice.

in | volve | Alysn Midgelow-Marsden (our gallery director with 15 years of gallery, tutoring and making experience) will be introducing mentoring groups based here at the gallery. They are directed towards those wishing to succeed in the creative industries. You will be given the opportunity to ripen your skills and knowledge to maximum effect. The sessions will run on alternate Tuesday afternoons. £240 for each 6 month module.
Professional Practice Module runs on the second Tuesday of each month.
Participants will be invited to ‘make your practice work for you’. This module is designed for those looking to turn their talents into a viable business model.
Creative Development Module runs on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
‘Crit’ can be a dirty word for many creative people however, good ‘crit’ should be a positive feedback to the work. It allows you to witness how your work is perceived and teases out all those beautiful strands of thought and experiences that you have fed into your making processes. This is an opportunity to nurture your practice with regards to all aspects of making whether it be composition, technique or context in a supportive and perceptive environment. |
