Learn to draw in a Day
With Maggie Smith


This is an intensive course to get quick results. The day is designed to give you drawing exercises that will soon help you gain access to the right ‘artistic’ side of the brain so you will be looking and ‘seeing’ in the way a trained artist does, which will enable you to draw. Because of the way the day is planned, you will be able to see the progress you have made during the day. All you need is a willingness to learn and work hard to achieve amazing results in one day.

Create Recycled Tin Fantasy Creatures

You will be guided on a ‘shamanic’ journey to find your power animals, which will then be transformed into 3 dimensional forms using recycled aluminium (tin cans).

Life Drawing
With Tiggy Coxon

An opportunity to explore a range of different approaches to drawing the figure using pencil and charcoal on cartridge paper. Measurement of the figure, quick sketches, exploring the contour of the figure and drawing using continuous line. Poses will last between 5 minutes and 40 minutes. More experienced students may wish to plan their own approaches for the session with regard to type of media they wish to explore.

Modge Podge Sunflower Vase
With Nikki Whitlock

Modge Podge is a sealer, glue & glaze all in one, non-toxic and dries in 10mins, can be worked on most surfaces, including glass & metal, and dries completely see through – finishes products with a shimmering lustre. These vases are created using beautiful shear materials; organza, tissue paper, raw silk etc. Nikki specialises in all mediums of collage. Suitable for beginners.

Mixed Media - Layers For Backgrounds
With Alysn Midgelow-Marsden

Use an exciting mixture of different paints, resists and glazes, make your own stamp blocks and creatively use pre-formed stamps,  embellish with embossing powders and texture gels to create densely layered and textured background fabrics for stitching and beading later. Expect to get messy and finish the day with plenty of experimental surfaces.

Monochrome Batik

Using the current exhibition ‘mOnOchrOme’ as inspiration …..An exciting workshop exploring discharge-dyeing, a unique Batik application using wax resist and bleach, with the designs becoming progressively lighter with each application. This technique enables the artist to respond to their chosen subject matter with spontaneity whilst allowing subtle changes to be made.Traditional cultural designs and techniques will be taught alongside more modern approaches

Using the current exhibition ‘mOnOchrOme’ as inspiration ….. Using only black and white merino woollen fibres you will learn how to draw completing a work suitable for framing. The day will begin with looking at the work of artists , such as Matisse, who captured the figure with a minimal line.

Create a Teepee Table Light
With Pat Shearing

Learn the technique of willow structuring and decorate with special hand made paper to create a table lamp to brighten those leisurely summer evenings. Skeleton leaves can be used to adorn or bring along your own items to incorporate into your design. All materials supplied, beginners welcome.

Deconstruct & Reconstruct an Apron
With Priscilla Jones

Using an old apron or pinnie of your own, you will explore the possibilities of giving this item a new lease of life by making it into an art object by deconstructing the surface then reconstructing it by using paint, machine and hand-stitch techniques. This is a very experimental workshop so be prepared to explore innovative possibilities by applying paint and stitch to your apron - your apron should look unrecognizable by the end of the day, we hope!

If we are unable to run the workshop your deposit and payment will be refunded.
To cancel your booking please provide three weeks notice to ensure a refund (not including deposit). Less then 3 weeks notice will result in full payment being deducted.
